How to Play

Keyboard Specific

  • J Key (NES 'A'): Select pieces with the chess cursor or jump during combat.
  • H Key (NES 'B'): Deselect with the chess cursor or activate piece-specific attacks in combat.
  • WASD or Arrow Keys: Navigate menus, move the chess cursor, and control your piece during combat.
  • Enter Key ('Start'):  Start the game

Gamepad Specific

  • Right Face Button (NES 'A'):  Select pieces with the chess cursor or jump during combat.
  • Bottom Face Button (NES 'B'): Deselect with the chess cursor or activate piece-specific attacks in combat.
  • D-Pad: Navigate menus, move the chess cursor, and control lateral movement during combat.

Piece Abilities

  • Pawn: Wields a sword—swing it with the attack button to slash adversaries.
  • Knight: Can leap onto opponents' heads, damaging them upon impact.
  • Bishop: Conjures a revolving ball of light, providing a protective barrier and a means to attack.
  • Rook: Launches a powerful projectile that can damage distant enemies.
  • Queen: A versatile powerhouse, combining the Rook's projectile and the Bishop’s revolving light attack.
  • Kings capture automatically!

Game Dynamics

  • Each match is a test of both strategic placement and precise control of your pieces. Avoid your opponent's pieces and their magical attacks.
  • Victory in battles is achieved through clever positioning and optimal use of your pieces' unique abilities.

Tips

  • Study your opponents' attack patterns and plan your moves strategically.
